The Boston University School of Hospitality Administration (SHA) provides three specialized graduate certificate programs—Events Management, Hospitality Management, and Advanced Hospitality Management—tailored for professionals, career switchers, and industry leaders aiming to enhance their expertise. These programs explore diverse subjects, including event coordination, leadership, operational strategies, financial management, and brand development, all crucial for success in hospitality and events.

BU SHA's certificate programs in Events Management, Hospitality Management, and Advanced Hospitality Management are structured to equip you with in-demand skills and professional credibility quickly. Featuring a 12-credit curriculum, these certificates can be finished in just 3-4 months. Designed for busy professionals, evening classes provide scheduling convenience.

The Hospitality Management graduate certificate sharpens your business skills for career growth. This Fall semester program mirrors the core curriculum of BU SHA's MMH degree, taught by experienced faculty members.

This certificate requires two foundational courses focusing on leadership and operations. Additionally, you may select an elective—either Hospitality Financial Management or Hospitality Marketing & Branding—to align with your professional goals.

Qualification Requirements

We require a copy of your undergraduate transcript to be uploaded to your online application. In addition, we require the submission of all transcripts from colleges and/or universities attended that count toward any degree (beyond high school).

A college senior should submit an official report of work completed in the first semester of the senior year as soon as it is available. All transcripts must be in English or an official translation. If you are admitted and decide to enroll, we will ask for an official copy at that time.
We require the most up-to-date resume or CV for all applicants.
We require a minimum score of 84 on the TOEFL or 6.5 on the IELTS for your application to be reviewed. We must receive an official TOEFL or IELTS score by the application deadline, and we recommend taking your TOEFL or IELTS at least 20 days prior to our deadline to assure that we receive the score. (Note: Our TOEFL code is 3087).
DUOLINGO ENGLISH TEST SCORE 120-130
BU accepts results for the Duolingo English Test (DET) as evidence of English proficiency, which combines an English proficiency test with a brief video interview. Students who are most competitive for admission will have a score of at least 120-130. Please note that BU requires both the total score and all subscores of the test. We will review your subscores for consistency within each subject area.
