Boston University's advanced pediatric dentistry program aims to develop highly skilled practitioners capable of delivering comprehensive oral healthcare to infants, children, and adolescents, including those with special needs, while considering family, cultural, and community contexts. The program prepares graduates to work across various healthcare environments, from private practices to public health institutions.
Program Objectives
The DScD in Pediatric Dentistry cultivates professionals who excel not only in clinical care for young patients and special needs populations but also in academic research and dental education.
This doctoral program spans three years beyond the CAGS in Pediatric Dentistry requirements, involving rigorous research culminating in a thesis project and defense.
Through the CAGS curriculum, dentists undergo specialized training to deliver complete preventive and therapeutic oral care for pediatric populations, with particular attention to patients with special healthcare requirements within their familial and societal frameworks.
