As a PhD candidate in computer engineering, you'll engage in both theoretical and applied research alongside our distinguished faculty. The program accepts students either directly after their undergraduate studies (with an opportunity to earn a master's degree en route) or following completion of a master's program.
Your doctoral studies will focus on specialized research areas aligned with your academic interests and your faculty advisor's expertise. Located in Boston, you'll join a dynamic technology research hub with frequent industry, government, and academic partnerships. While Boston serves as your home base, the department actively supports international conference participation for PhD candidates to showcase their research globally.
For students entering after a bachelor's degree: Completion requires 64 graduate credits, with 32 fulfilling MS-EE specifications. The PhD prospectus defense can satisfy the master's thesis/project requirement.
For students entering after a master's degree: Completion requires 32 graduate credits.
