Boston University's Biomedical Sciences Program (PiBS) delivers intensive PhD training by combining interdisciplinary biomedical research fundamentals with specialized study and career development preparation. During their first year, PiBS students can investigate diverse research fields through three lab rotations while completing a core curriculum to guide their PhD specialization path.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants will need to complete all required sections of the online application prior to submitting it. This includes uploading the required credentials. Discuss your short and long-term professional goals and the major influences that helped shape these goals. Applicants will upload a scanned copy of the transcript from each college or university attended.
The transcript should include each course taken and a grade earned for each course. A minimum of two letters of recommendation are required. A maximum of three recommendations can be submitted online.
TOEFL- Students who are most competitive for admission will have a composite score of at least 90-100 and minimum scores of 20 in each section.
A total/overall score of 7 or higher on IELTS will also satisfy BU's English Language proficiency requirement for all programs.
