Students starting their Questrom journey in their first year at BU fulfill two core business courses as part of their degree requirements: Business, Ethics, and the Creation of Value, along with Measuring Financial Value. These interconnected courses, taken together with a cohort, aim to establish a philosophical, economic, and practical framework for ethical decision-making in finance and business. Together, they help students build foundational writing, presentation, and teamwork abilities while deepening their grasp of business complexities.
Typically, during their second year, students acquire analytical skills in financial and managerial accounting, management information systems, and statistics. They explore organizational management, refine business communication techniques, and gain insights into the legal aspects of business. Building on their first-year foundation, students better appreciate the significance of these analytical tools, recognize the value of enhancing teamwork, and understand the real-world implications of business law.
