The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture program offers a structured studio curriculum focused on three-dimensional art creation across diverse materials and methods, equipping students for professional artistic careers. The journey starts with AR 121 Foundation Sculpture, the gateway to all advanced sculpture courses, then progresses to 200-level classes exploring specialized topics like Materials & Methods, Installation, and New Genres in Sculpture. Students advance through mandatory Junior and Senior Studios, along with a Senior Seminar, culminating in a thesis exhibition.
Elective options allow students to concentrate on preferred mediums and subjects. Faculty mentor each student to refine technical skills, cultivate professional studio habits, and explore individual artistic concepts. Sculpture students build a unique creative process, critical analysis abilities, and comprehensive three-dimensional technical knowledge. They learn to address conceptual themes while leveraging the resources of both the School of Visual Arts and Boston University.
