The BA/MS program in Remote Sensing & Geospatial Sciences from the Department of Earth & Environment integrates upper-level undergraduate and graduate coursework, giving students comprehensive technical expertise in these fields and creating promising professional pathways. Qualified juniors and seniors can pursue both bachelor's and master's degrees through this unified program.

This program accepts students majoring in either Earth & Environmental Sciences (EES) or Environmental Analysis & Policy (EAP). The Graduate School of Arts & Sciences (GRS) confers the MS degree in Remote Sensing & Geospatial Sciences.

Both BA and MS degrees are awarded concurrently. Students wishing to pursue an additional undergraduate major must submit a petition to the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences when applying to the BA/MS program. Graduate-level courses must be numbered 500 or above and completed with a minimum grade of B.

Requirements
Participants in the Remote Sensing & Geospatial Sciences BA/MS program must complete 38 courses (152 units) total while meeting all requirements for both the College of Arts & Sciences BA and the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences MS programs.

Students can apply two 4-unit courses toward both degree requirements.
Courses numbered 400/600 that satisfy both BA and MS requirements may be counted for both programs, provided they are taken at the 600 level.

Qualification Requirements

Apply as a first-year student if you are currently in your last year of high school, have completed high school, are a GED recipient, or have completed a high school equivalency exam. If you are currently in high school and are part of a dual enrollment program, you should also apply as a first-year student.

English Proficiency Testing Results:

Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet Based Test (TOEFL iBT): Students who are most competitive for admission will have a composite score of at least 90-100 and minimum scores of 20 in each section.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS): A total/overall score of 7 or higher

Duolingo English Test (DET): Students who are most competitive for admission will have a total score of at least 125-135.
