The Linguistics BA/MA program caters to highly motivated students aiming to earn a master's degree through an additional year of focused linguistic studies. This joint initiative is administered by both the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) and the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences (GRS).
To complete the combined BA/MA degree, students must finish 38 four-credit courses (totaling 152 credits), merging the requirements of both degrees. Notably, up to two graduate-level Linguistics courses can fulfill requirements for both degrees simultaneously, decreasing the total course load from 40 to 38. With advisor approval, students may substitute GRS LX 600- or 700-level courses for equivalent CAS LX 300- or 400-level courses to meet BA requirements, allowing these courses to count toward both degrees (with a maximum of two such substitutions permitted).
