This major provides students with fundamental knowledge of philosophical texts and methodologies while introducing them to seminal works of Ancient Greek philosophy and their lasting impact on philosophical traditions. Students develop proficiency in reading classical Greek prose in its original form and gain skills to articulate and debate core philosophical concepts from antiquity. The program equips students for advanced studies in Ancient Greek at the MA level, graduate philosophy programs, or - when paired with Latin - doctoral studies in classics. It also serves as strong preparation for theological, religious, and humanities studies, as well as forming an excellent basis for legal education.
