The theology doctoral program seeks to cultivate theologians who demonstrate intellectual excellence within church, academic, and societal contexts. Rooted in confessional principles, it approaches theology as "faith pursuing comprehension."
The program consequently fosters a community of belief, academic dialogue, and scholarly work focused on examining Christian thought and practice throughout history, aiming to make meaningful contributions to this vision. It acknowledges that innovative theological discourse and specialized inquiry demand thorough engagement with classical philosophical and theological heritage, alongside collaborative efforts across ecumenical, interdisciplinary, interfaith, and multicultural dimensions.
The Historical Theology/History of Christianity (HTHC) concentration examines historical theological interpretations of Church doctrine and practice, with special emphasis on early and medieval Christian periods. This area endeavors to understand these theological formulations both within their specific historical settings (social, cultural, institutional) and within the wider evolution of Christian theological tradition
