Quantum information science explores how to harness quantum mechanics for advancing computing, communication, and measurement technologies. Unique quantum effects like superposition and entanglement emerge in carefully controlled atomic-scale systems ("qubits"), offering possibilities to surpass traditional technological boundaries. Specifically, by adjusting qubit interactions, these quantum systems can reveal new understandings of quantum materials and serve as building blocks for future quantum computers. Current research focuses in our department encompass quantum sensing, information flow dynamics, teleportation protocols, error mitigation strategies, and topological approaches to quantum computation.
