This adaptable Bachelor of Arts program examines the connections between criminal justice and social justice, incorporating perspectives from psychology, sociology, and data science. Alongside core studies of the justice system, learners investigate systemic challenges like substance abuse, racial disparities, gender inequality, and violent crime to uncover the societal and economic factors behind criminal behavior and develop principled solutions.
Instruction comes from seasoned criminal justice professionals—such as lawyers, law enforcement leaders, scholars, and field experts—blending rigorous coursework in criminal law and criminology with optional classes on societal transformation, psychological principles, and sociological theories. Rooted in Boston College's Jesuit educational philosophy of exploration and social responsibility, the program equips students to contribute to creating a fairer, more restorative justice system.
