The Associate of Applied Science in Diagnostic Ultrasound Technology delivers instruction in patient care and diagnostic imaging methods. Students can specialize in one of three pathways: General (Abdominal/OB-GYN), Vascular Technology, or Adult Cardiac Sonography. Applicants must select their specialization during the application process. Admission is competitive, with updated criteria published yearly. Program completers may apply for certification exams through both the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. The cardiac sonography track holds accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. Sonography professionals maintain significant patient interaction, sometimes performing minimally invasive procedures, requiring compassionate communication skills with patients across all health statuses.
