We're delighted you're considering Baylor's piano pedagogy program. Our program at Baylor University is dedicated to offering a comprehensive education for aspiring artist-teachers through supervised teaching practice, coursework, internships, observation opportunities, and research across diverse age groups and skill levels. Pedagogy majors complete three required courses while performance majors take two, all focused on instructing students ranging from preschoolers to seniors, including group piano classes. Graduates from our program pursue various career paths—some teach at universities, others establish private studios or work at community music schools, while some become collaborative pianists or enter music ministry roles.

Qualification Requirements

Bachelor's degree in music in the appropriate concentration, those who lack courses prerequisite to graduate study may make
up the undergraduate work provided it is at the 4000 level and appropriate to the degree program.
All students will take music theory and music history diagnostic exams, appropriate remedial course work may be required.
Audition with repertoire of at least senior recital level, repertoire list must be submitted at audition
