The Master of Fine Arts in Directing program is designed for creative scholars aiming to become professional directors, artistic leaders, or theatre educators at the university level. Acceptance into this selective program requires applicants to demonstrate strong knowledge of dramatic works and theatre history, along with hands-on directing experience, script analysis skills, visual storytelling ability, and collaborative design work. Throughout the three-year curriculum, MFA candidates direct multiple productions across various styles, genres, and performance venues, culminating in a thesis production. Our Theatre Arts Department focuses on developing artist-scholars through an intensive, standards-aligned program that equips graduates for careers in professional theatre, academic theatre programs, and higher education instruction. This MFA represents the sole terminal theatre degree available at Baptist-affiliated institutions worldwide.
