For students considering careers at the intersection of business and law, the Law School and Hankamer School of Business provide a combined degree program resulting in both a Juris Doctor (JD) and Master of Business Administration (MBA).
This JD/MBA initiative aims to enhance the capabilities of both business leaders and corporate legal advisors by fostering mutual understanding of their complementary roles in organizational success. Participants are advised to focus their legal studies on either Business Transactions or Business Litigation.
The program grants 12 JD credits for completed MBA requirements and 12 MBA elective credits for finished law coursework. In total, students fulfill 114 quarter hours of legal studies and 24 semester hours of business courses. Both degrees are conferred together, requiring completion of all program elements in both schools.
Typically completed in 3.5 to 4 years, the program begins with Business Frameworks - a four-week introductory series covering accounting, finance, Excel, and statistics (1 credit each). JD/MBA candidates commence business studies in July, finishing this portion by the following May.
