Baylor University's sociology Ph.D. program fosters a collaborative, challenging, and nurturing academic environment. Central to this program is the emphasis on close faculty-student mentoring relationships, working together on both research projects and teaching opportunities. While we provide focused study areas in community analytics, health sociology, and religion sociology (detailed below), students can explore their individual research passions. The initial three years focus on structured coursework, with students producing publishable research by their second year that forms the basis of their master's thesis. After passing comprehensive exams in their third year, students advance to Ph.D. candidacy, dedicating their fourth and fifth years to dissertation research and writing.
