The Doctor of Philosophy in mechanical engineering (Ph.D.) program prepares students for advanced engineering roles demanding education beyond a Master of Science. This includes positions in industrial research, national laboratory work, or academic engineering careers. The curriculum mandates at least seventy-six (76) semester hours of approved courses and research. Up to thirty (30) semester hours from a relevant master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field can be transferred toward the Ph.D. requirements.
