If your future goals include earning an MFA, PhD, or building a career in writing or editing, Ball State's creative writing master's program equips you for the next phase of your writing journey. Learn from our faculty of established authors who will guide you in improving your craft, getting published, discovering teaching positions, and strengthening applications for advanced degrees.

As Indiana's only program of its kind, our creative writing MA serves two key objectives:

Prepare students contemplating MFA or PhD programs by offering teaching experience and refining the analytical skills, writing abilities, and portfolio pieces needed for competitive applications.
Provide non-traditional students and those not seeking advanced degrees with opportunities to enhance their writing, critical analysis, and interpretive skills for professional development or personal growth as writers.
