The Biology Department at Ball State provides two distinct tracks for its master's program, tailored to different academic and career goals. Those opting for the Master of Arts (MA) in biology will undertake a creative project, research paper, or another substantial self-designed initiative rather than a traditional thesis. This pathway equips graduates for roles in biomedical labs, natural resource agencies, scientific supply companies, environmental consultancies, or science publishing, while also leaving the door open for advanced studies. The curriculum enhances students' expertise in biological sciences and related fields through graduate-level coursework. While research is mandatory, a formal thesis isn't required. This program readies students for positions in biomedical research, environmental management, scientific supply, consulting, and publishing, or for pursuing higher education. A minimum of 60% of coursework must be at the 600-level.
Students must have a bachelor’s degree from an institution recognized by a regional accrediting association.
Students must have earned a minimum of a 2.75 GPA from the undergraduate degree-granting institution.
Required Scores to demonstrate English Proficiency: TOEFL iBT 79; IELTS 6.5 Band; Pearson's PTE 53
