The Doctor of Arts (DA) in Music program equips exceptional musicians for professional roles blending instruction, performance, and academic research. These comprehensive curricula merge a principal focus from classical music disciplines with a secondary specialization. Students may pursue their secondary concentration within the School of Music or in a cognate field across the university. Program components encompass written and oral qualifying examinations, practical training through internship and externship experiences, teaching methodology seminars, and a doctoral thesis. The dissertation provides an innovative scholarly work, which could take the form of analytical research, an annotated reference work, an educational or performance-based initiative, or potentially incorporate original compositions or recordings when relevant.
