The OU School of Music's mission is to foster academic growth, innovative instruction, research, and community engagement. Our faculty and students strive to elevate music education, push boundaries in performance and scholarship, and strengthen the field through leadership roles in professional organizations worldwide. Founded in 1903 as OU's second academic school, we've held continuous accreditation with the National Association of Schools of Music since 1931. As Oklahoma's sole institution offering doctoral music programs, we impact our community through the creative and intellectual achievements of our faculty, students, and graduates. OU grants music degrees across five disciplines: composition, education, musicology, performance, and theory. While honoring our heritage, we develop forward-thinking curricula to equip students for a rapidly changing global landscape.
