Ball State's exceptional needs: early childhood special education teaching program equips you for a rewarding career supporting infants and toddlers with disabilities. Graduates find employment in preschools, developmental centers, and agency programs serving young children with special needs. This major includes coursework qualifying you for a Mild Interventions (K-6) teaching license. Beyond academic rigor, our program prioritizes hands-on field experience, culminating in a dual-setting student teaching placement (early childhood and mild interventions K-6). As part of our thorough special education curriculum, you'll study early childhood special education theory, assessment techniques for exceptional learners, mild intervention teaching strategies, and other essential skills. You'll gain experience working with diverse learners, conducting and analyzing various assessments, linking evaluation to instructional planning, and implementing Response to Intervention (RtI) and progress monitoring approaches.
