The Professional Flight degree establishes a strong base in aeronautical knowledge and piloting abilities, meeting the standards of professional aviation bodies and ensuring success in the industry. Auburn University operates as an FAA-approved Part 141 pilot school, with flight activities based at the Auburn University Regional Airport (KAUO), situated under three miles from campus and conveniently reachable via the Tiger Transit shuttle. Both this degree and the Aviation Management degree enable eligibility for the FAA Restricted Airline Transport (R-ATP) certification, requiring just 1,000 hours of flight experience. Degree credentials and ratings cover Private Pilot Certification, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot Certification, Multi-Engine Rating, Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), CFI with Instrument Rating (CFII), and Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI). To qualify for the Restricted ATP (R-ATP), students must complete one advanced pilot or flight instructor certification at Auburn, and the instrument rating and commercial pilot certificate ground and flight training must also be done at the university.
