The MA program in English offers diverse transdisciplinary studies across five specialized tracks:

Comparative literature --- Participants analyze cultural works in English and another language, employing methods from textual analysis and critical theory to translation studies and cultural research.

Creative writing -- The accelerated BA/MA creative writing path enhances artistic development through rigorous workshops in fiction or poetry, combined with contemporary literature studies and innovative creative methods.

English studies --- This track teaches students to transform complex cultural, historical, literary and linguistic concepts into engaging content for broader audiences through interdisciplinary coursework.

Literature --- Learners refine their abilities in public speaking, analytical writing and critical analysis while investigating social, historical and cultural frameworks.

Writing, rhetorics and literacies --- This curriculum provides comprehensive studies in rhetorical history, theory and application, along with writing instruction methodologies.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants must fulfill the requirements of both the Graduate College and The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Applicants are eligible to apply to the program if they have earned a bachelor's or master's degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (scale is 4.00= A) in the last 60 hours of their first bachelor's degree program, or applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (scale is 4.00= A) in an applicable master's degree program.

All applicants must submit:

statement of purpose
resume or curriculum vitae
three letters of recommendation
academic writing sample relevant to the field
proof of English proficiency
3.0 GPA or equivalent
One of the following results on a standardized English proficiency test: (a) 100 or higher on the IBT, (b) 7.0 or higher on the IELTS.
