The English MA program offers five specialized tracks for interdisciplinary exploration:

Comparative literature --- Learners analyze cultural works in English and additional languages, employing methods from textual analysis and critical theory to translation studies and social sciences.

Creative writing -- Aspiring writers in the accelerated BA/MA path refine their craft through intensive workshops (fiction or poetry), while examining modern literature and experimental creative methods.

English studies --- This concentration teaches students to transform complex cultural, historical, and linguistic concepts into engaging content for diverse audiences through cross-disciplinary coursework.

Literature --- Participants enhance their analytical, writing, and presentation abilities while investigating social, historical, and cultural frameworks.

Writing, rhetorics and literacies --- This curriculum provides comprehensive studies in rhetorical traditions, theoretical foundations, and practical applications of writing instruction.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants must fulfill the requirements of both the Graduate College and The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Applicants are eligible to apply to the program if they have earned a bachelor's or master's degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (scale is 4.00= A) in the last 60 hours of their first bachelor's degree program, or applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (scale is 4.00= A) in an applicable master's degree program.

All applicants must submit:

graduate admission application and application fee
official transcripts
statement of purpose
resume or curriculum vitae
three letters of recommendation
academic writing sample relevant to the field
proof of English proficiency
3.0 GPA or equivalent
One of the following results on a standardized English proficiency test: (a) 100 or higher on the IBT, (b) 7.0 or higher on the IELTS.
