The Master of Arts in Art with an Art Education specialization explores teaching and learning through diverse lenses, incorporating artistic investigation, curriculum development, spatial concepts, studio work, visual culture studies, community engagement, developmental psychology, and cultural frameworks.
The final project can be completed in various art education environments, including K-12 art programs, cultural institutions, public spaces, university studios, or the student's own teaching setting.
Beyond the comprehensive coursework, learners gain access to extensive resources at this top-tier research university. The program fosters interdisciplinary collaboration with faculty from studio arts, art history, museum studies, and distinguished researchers university-wide. Unique programs further enhance career development through interactions with working artists and museum professionals.

Qualified graduate students may request studio space at Grant Street Studios, situated in Phoenix's vibrant arts district, featuring shared facilities including woodworking equipment, printmaking tools, photography darkrooms, ceramic kilns, digital workstations, and 3D printing resources.

The School of Art's exhibition spaces, including the Ceramics Research Center and ASU Art Museum, present regular public shows and visiting artist programs. These events help students deepen their understanding of modern artistic practices while establishing valuable professional connections.

The school's collections provide exceptional opportunities to study how historical artworks influence contemporary visual literacy. The Northlight Gallery, under the direction of curator Cecilia Fajardo-Hill, specializes in Latin American and Latino photography, housing two significant archives. Pyracantha Press maintains an extensive typography collection with rare printing equipment, including an 1834 Columbian press, representing the largest academic type collection in North America. The collaborative ASU-LACMA Fellowship facilitates professional exchanges with multiple museum partners.
