The Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) with a performance specialization is an advanced professional program designed for accomplished musicians seeking intensive performance training alongside preparation for collegiate teaching roles.

Under faculty guidance, participants refine their artistry through solo recitals, chamber music, and participation in diverse ensembles such as choral groups, orchestras, jazz bands, musical theater productions, and opera performances, tailored to their specialization.

Extensive performance opportunities, both on-campus and in professional settings, cultivate the expertise required for leadership roles in music education, performance, or arts advocacy. The program fosters close mentorship relationships with faculty and visiting artists to accelerate artistic development. Participants take on leadership roles, guiding and inspiring younger musicians through performances, teaching experiences, and community initiatives. Collaborative projects with music scholars, theorists, composers, educators, dancers, and theater professionals equip students with the multifaceted skills needed for artistic distinction and leadership in the field.
