With increasing urban populations comes a greater need for skilled leaders capable of addressing growth-related challenges. This degree program offers practical learning experiences to launch careers focused on driving meaningful change. Situated in downtown Phoenix, the Bachelor of Science in urban and metropolitan studies caters to students passionate about applying urban theory to tackle rapid expansion and modern city challenges.

Participants in this program explore urban dynamics firsthand - treating the city itself as their learning environment. By investigating historical, social, cultural, economic, and political factors, they develop solutions while mastering urban theory concepts, which they then apply through community engagement. This hands-on approach provides real-world experience addressing metropolitan complexities. Students become actively involved in their local neighborhoods, with many residing and working downtown while learning to enhance urban quality of life and preparing for leadership roles. Others concentrate on diverse societal contributions, examining how arts, culture, business development, and community revitalization shape regional vitality.

This program qualifies for the Western Undergraduate Exchange at the Downtown Phoenix campus. Eligible students from Western states may receive reduced nonresident tuition at 150% of Arizona resident rates plus fees. Visit the provided link for WUE program details and eligibility criteria.
