The Department of Humanities and Religious Studies provides a comprehensive exploration of global cultures across historical periods. Our curriculum encourages students to examine fundamental concepts, principles, and ethics through interdisciplinary lenses. The Humanities - referred to as studia humanitatis ('humanistic studies') during the Renaissance - encompass diverse fields including literature, history, philosophy, religion, visual arts, music, theater, and cinema. Religious Studies examines the doctrines and rituals of global faith traditions within their historical and cultural frameworks. Utilizing methodologies from history, anthropology, sociology, psychology, and philosophy, this discipline approaches religious phenomena with understanding while maintaining neutrality regarding theological assertions.
The Humanities Bachelor's degree establishes a broad interdisciplinary understanding of world civilizations while enabling students to concentrate on specific historical periods (such as antiquity, the Middle Ages, or contemporary times) or geographical cultural regions.
