Students receive private vocal instruction each semester alongside specialized training in acting, dance, audition skills, technical production, repertoire classes, scene work, and live performances.

ASU offers distinctive dual training in both opera and musical theater across diverse styles, from classic to modern. The department stages two musicals and two operas annually, alongside new works and student productions. Annual showcases in New York and Phoenix, plus partnerships with Arizona Opera and The Phoenix Theatre Company, create exceptional performance platforms and career-building experiences for students.

Have a 3.00 grade point average (GPA) (a B or better where A=4.00) from a secondary school. Some ASU programs may have higher admission or English proficiency requirements and may consider a minimum ACT or SAT score.
Must have three years of high school coursework. (If you are currently in high school, ASU needs to see 911 grade coursework. If you have completed high school, ASU needs to see 10-12 grade coursework.)
Must have and present a completed high school diploma or certificate.
IELTS - minimum score 6.0
TOEFL iBT - minimum score is 61.
