The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance with a dance education specialization equips students for K-12 dance teaching certification in Arizona, while also qualifying them for certification in other states through interstate reciprocity agreements.
At the School of Music, Dance and Theatre, students thrive in a vibrant, multicultural setting that nurtures their growth as performing artists, academics, and instructors. Their education is enhanced by diverse coursework spanning dance traditions, musical studies, digital arts, dance historiography, aesthetic theory, kinesiology, body awareness disciplines, and theatrical production. The program fosters artistic innovation and scholarly inquiry while connecting academic learning with real-world applications through practical experiences like teaching practicums. Dance majors receive comprehensive training in various techniques and mind-body disciplines, covering styles such as Afro-Latin dance, neoclassical ballet, urban street dance, modern contemporary, and somatic movement therapies.

Have a 3.00 grade point average (GPA) (a B or better where A=4.00) from a secondary school. Some ASU programs may have higher admission or English proficiency requirements and may consider a minimum ACT or SAT score.
Must have three years of high school coursework. (If you are currently in high school, ASU needs to see 911 grade coursework. If you have completed high school, ASU needs to see 10-12 grade coursework.)
Must have and present a completed high school diploma or certificate.
