Learning happens continuously throughout life, in all environments and stages. This program helps you explore diverse education-related career paths by offering specialized coursework tailored to your interests, complemented by hands-on internships in community settings.
The Bachelor of Arts in Education (BAE) in educational studies equips graduates to work with individuals of all ages across nonprofit organizations, community groups, civic entities, and corporate environments. The curriculum cultivates cultural awareness for social justice, encompassing self-reflection, appreciation of diversity, and understanding systemic inequalities. Participants acquire skills for designing inclusive learning experiences, promoting equity, and mastering crucial professional competencies like communication, teamwork, leadership, advocacy, and creative problem-solving - all vital for education specialists.
Students specialize in one of 13 concentration areas, deepening their knowledge in:
business operations
community wellness
guidance counseling
business creation
ecological education
family and developmental studies
international affairs
healthcare advancements
nonprofit management
organizational direction
individual wellness
government studies
leisure administration
The program requires a year-long internship where participants work with nonprofits, corporations, or government agencies. Interns apply principles of diversity and equity to identify educational challenges within their host organizations. Using human-centered design methodology - prioritizing people in problem-solving - they analyze issues, brainstorm solutions, and implement improvements.
ASU students pursuing other degrees can add an educational studies minor.
