The Master of Arts in International Economic Relations (MAIER) uniquely blends international economics with political economy, preparing you for careers in global business, finance, government, or nonprofit organizations. Core coursework focuses on international trade and finance, while allowing you to specialize in areas like development studies, environmental policy, political economy, or a custom-designed focus area.

The MAIER program requires completion of 36 graduate-level credits, including a capstone project, with flexible full-time (2-year) or part-time (up to 6-year) options. The curriculum includes four foundational courses, three quantitative methods courses, and the choice between four established concentrations or a self-designed specialization. Students examine critical global issues including economic globalization, financial crises, trade agreements, emerging market dynamics, corporate climate risks, and economic competition between major world powers.
