Students enrolled in an M.S. Biology program have the option to select a concentration, which represents a focused set of interconnected Biology and related courses. This selection is not mandatory, and the concentration courses don't require extra credits as they fit within the program's 33 or 36 credit requirement. Only a single concentration can be selected.
For every concentration, students must adhere to the standard M.S. Biology requirements (see links for thesis or non-thesis track details), while meeting the concentration's minimum credit requirements and completing specified courses or selections from designated groups. Extra courses from these groups beyond the required amount still contribute to the M.S. Biology credit total. Be aware that, without special permission, only four 500-level courses can apply toward the degree. Additionally, with supervisory committee approval, students may include up to 12 credits from graduate courses in other departments.
