Students enrolled in an M.S. Biology program have the option to select a concentration, which represents a focused set of interconnected Biology and related courses. This selection is entirely optional, and the concentration courses don't require extra credits as they fit within the standard 33-36 credit degree requirements. Students may select only one concentration.
For every concentration, candidates must adhere to the standard M.S. Biology requirements (see links for thesis or non-thesis track specifics), while fulfilling the concentration's minimum credit requirements through designated courses or course groups. Extra courses from these groups beyond the required count still contribute to the degree. Please note that typically only four 500-level courses can be applied toward the degree without special permission. Additionally, with committee approval, students may include up to 12 credits from graduate courses in other departments.
