Both PhD and MPhil programs entail carrying out research under faculty guidance and presenting findings in a thesis. PhD candidates typically enroll for three years (or six years part-time), whereas MPhil students complete their degree in two years (four years part-time), involving a comparatively smaller research scope. Prospective students should select between our two PhD tracks according to their academic focus: applicants aiming to pursue studies at the York Neuroimaging Centre or specialize in cognitive neuroscience should opt for the PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuroimaging, while those interested in other psychology disciplines should consider the PhD in Psychology. Faculty advisors can provide personalized recommendations regarding the most appropriate program for each applicant.
