The Statistics and Probability Group explores diverse research areas in statistical methods and probability theory, applying these to various disciplines ranging from finance to biological sciences.
Statistical analysis and probabilistic modeling form the foundation for interpreting data and measuring uncertainty in real-world phenomena. Our work employs precise mathematical frameworks to uncover underlying trends and facilitate accurate forecasting.
We foster a dynamic, team-oriented research culture. A key advantage of our group is our established partnerships with other York University departments (including Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, and Psychology) as well as external organizations and scientific enterprises like Fera.
Our primary research efforts concentrate on challenges within the four specified domains below. We encourage PhD candidates to apply for projects across our discipline: detailed research focuses of individual faculty members, along with potential PhD supervision opportunities, are available on their personal profiles.
