This program prepares you to instruct modern languages for students aged 11-16 (with additional training for post-16 levels).

For numerous students, school provides their initial exposure to foreign language learning. As a language educator, you'll not only facilitate communication but also broaden their cultural awareness while fostering global tolerance and mutual understanding.
Customizing your program
We aim to provide all necessary options to help you become the educator you aspire to be. That's why we offer various opportunities to personalize your learning journey.
Language focus
All our programs involve studying two languages. In this course, French serves as your primary language, with German or Spanish as your secondary choice.
You'll participate in sessions to enhance your language proficiency, with special emphasis on your secondary language.
Your academic work at the University combined with school-based practical experience will collaboratively develop both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for effective teaching.

During the program, you'll continuously refine your understanding of what makes teaching impactful.

You'll dedicate two-thirds of your training time in school environments, with the remaining time spent at the University for instructional sessions. During placements, you'll receive consistent support through tutor visits, where they'll observe your teaching and help you analyze your professional growth.

This course builds upon your school experiences while offering exploration of diverse Modern Foreign Language teaching methodologies. You'll acquire specialized techniques including grammar and phonics instruction, lesson planning, self-reflection on teaching practices, and technology integration. These skills will shape you into a dynamic and effective MFL educator.

The program awards 60 Masters-level credits, applicable toward a Masters degree through Accreditation of Prior Credited Learning (APCL).
