Our one-year Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) equips you to teach English to secondary students aged 11-16.

You'll develop skills to teach both language and literature, including media studies, drama, and phonics instruction.
The program examines diverse texts like Shelagh Delaney's A Taste of Honey, John Agard's poetry, or Arthur Conan Doyle's The Sign of the Four, focusing on transforming literature into engaging lessons.
Throughout the course, you'll discover innovative teaching methods, build students' speaking confidence, and learn to analyze novels for classroom use. The curriculum includes literary theory applications and language skill development, particularly in grammar.
Educational visits to art galleries may complement your studies, along with insights from current English teachers and examination board professionals.
Our expert faculty, with extensive teaching experience and academic research backgrounds, deliver this comprehensive program.
