Join us in our mission to push the boundaries of mathematical discovery and education through meaningful research.
We strive to develop innovative applications and methodologies that serve both the mathematics field and broader society. Through our university-wide collaborations, industry partnerships, and policy engagements, you'll have opportunities to share ideas and forge valuable connections to propel your research and career prospects. Your academic journey will result in a thesis developed in consultation with your supervisor, featuring significant original contributions. This may involve novel concepts or insightful analysis of cutting-edge mathematical developments.
Your thesis work will be supported through consistent supervision meetings. Evaluation focuses entirely on your final thesis, though your program may incorporate some coursework elements.
Following your research period, you'll have a three-month window to complete your written submission.
The MSc Mathematics (by research) degree assessment centers on thesis evaluation. While an oral defense is only required if examiners request it, you'll typically present your findings to your research group.
The Mathematics Department anticipates MSc research theses to generally span 50 to 80 A4 pages
