This program is perfect for those passionate about diversity, inclusion, fairness, and building a just society. It's particularly valuable for current and aspiring educators, as well as those interested in policy development and research.
Education professionals, scholars, and policymakers acknowledge that social justice lies at the heart of their efforts. This course prepares you to examine teaching methods and professional challenges connected to social justice. MASJE students collaborate with the Education Department's Centre for Research on Education and Social Justice (CRESJ), where they can investigate what social justice means and how education contributes to its realization.
Participants will push the limits of their knowledge about educational policies and methods.
You'll acquire essential philosophical viewpoints on education and social equity, enabling you to thoughtfully evaluate prevailing educational theories and human capital concepts.
Students will assess social justice as a crucial framework manifested through education, and study how education can promote social justice (such as through policy initiatives).
This program prepares participants to make informed, considered decisions about inclusion, equity, and diversity, focusing particularly on contemporary challenges in higher education, cross-cultural interactions, race, gender, sexuality, power dynamics, and civic education.
The curriculum consists of 180 credits, including required courses, electives, and a final research project.
Core courses provide foundational skills and methodologies for the program and professional life. Electives let you customize your studies to match your interests and career goals.
During the Summer term, you'll further hone your research abilities while completing your dissertation.
