The Master of Arts in Medical History and Humanities offers an innovative cross-disciplinary program collaboratively offered by the History and English departments. This program welcomes applicants from diverse humanities fields, as well as individuals with social science, scientific, or public health backgrounds who are curious about medical humanities.
This program draws upon groundbreaking global research across medical history, literature, sociology, philosophy, health sciences, and policy studies. Bringing together students and faculty from various disciplines, historical periods, and global regions fosters a unique interdisciplinary and international learning environment.
Participants will investigate health, illness, and wellbeing through historical, literary, social, and cultural lenses, while also studying public health concerns and medical history. The curriculum emphasizes connections between historical studies, humanities, and policy, while developing sophisticated analytical and critical thinking abilities.
