Expand your understanding of the fundamental processes that support and enhance language acquisition. This Master's program provides two specialized tracks: the MA in Applied Linguistics for Language Teaching and the MA in Applied Linguistics for English Language Teaching. You'll explore cutting-edge research in applied linguistics while connecting these insights to your professional teaching experience. Designed for seasoned language educators, applicants should possess a minimum of one year of full-time classroom teaching experience (or its equivalent). This program caters to both UK and international candidates aspiring to advance their careers in foreign language instruction, including teaching English as a foreign language.
The curriculum provides in-depth investigation of language learning mechanisms, particularly focusing on second and additional language acquisition. You'll complete 180 credits through four required modules, two elective modules, and a dissertation.
For those selecting the English Language Teaching pathway, at least one elective module will concentrate specifically on teaching English as a foreign language.
