Our research group generates policy-focused studies addressing critical issues in education, child development, family economics, and economic growth. The team consists of approximately 10 faculty members from the Economics Department along with multiple doctoral candidates. We host various events including the AME seminar series (organized by Emma Tominey), Top Journal Publication workshops (led by Matthias Flueckiger), Research Funding Strategy sessions (conducted by Jack Britton), casual research discussions over pastries (facilitated by Simon Weber), and social curry evenings.
Since 2016, the Applied Microeconometrics group has annually hosted the international Workshop on Labour and Family Economics (WOLFE) in York. WOLFE highlights research in family and labor economics that significantly influences global policy discussions. The workshop uniquely blends advanced econometric techniques with analysis of urgent worldwide challenges, defining the nature of contributions presented each year.
