Why select this program
Pediatric nursing, also known as children's nursing, offers a fulfilling career path focused on providing care for young patients while supporting their families throughout the treatment process.
Course structure
To qualify as a pediatric nurse, you must complete mandatory study hours. Our three-year program is specifically structured to help you achieve the required 4,600 hours, with equal time divided between university studies and practical placements in various healthcare settings.
Half of your academic modules will be core subjects studied by all nursing students, while the remainder focus specifically on pediatric care. During clinical placements, you'll gain experience treating children and young people with diverse medical conditions. An optional international placement may be available in your final year.
The curriculum develops essential healthcare competencies including communication, digital literacy, numeracy, teamwork, critical thinking, and self-directed learning skills. Through diverse teaching methods, you'll acquire the expertise needed to deliver quality care to young patients in multiple healthcare contexts.
Our BNurs (Hons) Children's Nursing with Foundation Year program is delivered by specialist educators dedicated to advancing children's healthcare rights. We prepare nursing graduates to work effectively across health and social care systems, collaborating with professionals from education, social services, and youth justice sectors to deliver comprehensive patient care.
