This course is designed to provide graduates with a well-rounded engineering education while specializing in aerospace engineering. It holds accreditation from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and is currently undergoing re-accreditation review. Key highlights of this program include: Access to both small and large-scale wind tunnels, instruction at a cutting-edge campus, opportunities to collaborate with UWRA, and accreditation by IMechE. The UK excels in aircraft systems, supplying components like Airbus A380 wings, Boeing Dreamliner thermal systems, Eurofighter Typhoon wheels and brakes, and Rolls Royce engines. This course aims to equip graduates with a robust engineering foundation and aerospace expertise, validated by an accredited degree recognized in the professional engineering field. For 2025 entrants, the first year will be at Telford Campus, with subsequent years at City (Springfield) Campus. The foundation year strengthens core skills, while the first year of the main program covers fundamental engineering principles and introduces airframes and propulsion. Year two blends mechanical engineering with specialized modules on control systems, aircraft/space structures, and aerospace regulations, alongside engineering management and professional responsibilities. The third year integrates mechanical engineering with advanced topics like flight aerodynamics, expanded in the MEng program to include flight dynamics, control, and wind tunnel testing. All post-foundation years take place at our advanced campus, offering access to specialized aerospace resources.
We will consider applicants who have not achieved 48 UCAS points (equivalence) from prior level 3 qualifications, if you have a keen interest in this subject area or hold relevant experience. You will be required to attend and pass a compulsory Prepare For Foundation assessment day where you will take part in a variety of activities which will assess your suitability for the course.
