This dynamic program explores how social policy drives societal transformation. Our communities grapple with pressing issues that threaten collective health and wellbeing, including enduring poverty, food scarcity, and environmental crises. Building upon the University's longstanding expertise in social policy education, this innovative curriculum specifically examines policy's transformative potential. Contemporary society confronts urgent challenges impacting welfare, such as systemic deprivation, nutritional instability, and ecological threats.
The Social Policy and Social Change course investigates how societal issues are recognized, discussed, and addressed by policymakers, journalists, and the public. It will analyze policy shortcomings in tackling entrenched disparities affecting groups based on age, economic status, ability, race, gender, geography, faith, and sexual orientation.
