This program enhances your skills in conducting sophisticated analysis and research within transport policy, planning, and management. You'll master essential techniques and methodologies for making informed decisions or supporting policy-makers with crucial data. The Transport Planning MSc has been delivered successfully for over 50 years since its launch in 1970. It holds accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and meets the educational standards for the Transport Planning Professional (TPP) qualification as recognized by the TPP Professional Standards Committee.Through this course, you'll gain insights into the factors influencing personal travel and freight movement, learn to assess transport challenges, formulate effective policies, and implement solutions while considering stakeholder engagement and addressing political, social, health, environmental, and economic factors.The curriculum blends theoretical foundations with practical applications across three key elements: compulsory modules, elective modules, and a research dissertation.Professional AccreditationThis program is accredited by the Transport Planning Professional (TPP) and serves as a stepping stone toward achieving the TPP qualification.Typically, the course provides complete exemption from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) membership examination requirements. We're currently in the process of renewing our CILT accreditation.Upon successful accreditation, graduates of the Transport Planning MSc will be exempt from CILT's examination requirements for membership.Students are advised to enroll as Student Members during their studies, advancing to full membership when they meet the necessary criteria. CILT membership offers benefits including access to online communities, networking events, seminars, monthly publications, and the institute's resources.Career ProspectsParticipants will cultivate a sophisticated understanding of critical transport matters, acquiring specialized knowledge, practical expertise, and versatile skills to advance their professional trajectories in the field.Alumni have achieved leadership positions in management and policy development across transport operators, government agencies, consulting firms, and NGOs. A minimum of a lower second class honours degree (2:2) in a relevant subject area. Any relevant transport experience would further enhance your application. Part-time students should normally be employed within a relevant sector of transport for the duration of the course. If your first language is not English, you should have an IELTS 6.5 with at least 6.5 in writing and no element below 6.0. TOEFL (IBT) 88 overall with a minimum of 17 in Listening, 21 in Writing, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking.
