The worldwide ecological and energy crisis confronting today's architects and construction experts demands a more thorough grasp of sustainable design fundamentals and their practical integration into global architectural work. In recent years, environmental design has evolved as a discipline, adapting to fresh academic research and real-world testing. Yet many so-called eco-friendly structures fail to meet anticipated benchmarks, continuing to significantly add to carbon emissions while frequently delivering subpar living conditions. This issue extends to older buildings too - much of our current infrastructure is obsolete and inefficient, desperately needing renovation approaches that enhance not just energy efficiency but also occupant comfort and wellness. These shortcomings stem from inadequate performance assessment methods that remain uncommon in standard architectural processes.
